TELEPOLIS Exhibition - The History of Telecommunications in Greece
The Customer
Bee Group Inc. in cooperation with MYLOS Inc. founded the association “The history of Telecommunications” which was targeted at organizing an exhibition which would present the History of Telecommunications in Greece.

The Needs
Bee Group was one of the first companies which involved themselves with the Internet in Greece, operating as an ISP since 1995, and experiencing the evolution of this new means of communication.  On the one hand, was the cumulative experience of the company and on the other its commitment to executing innovative activities which led to the cooperation with MYLOS Inc. and the founding of the association which had as a goal the organization of the exhibition “Telepolis – The History of Telecommunications in Greece.”

The Solution

The organization of a long-duration exhibition, such as TELEPOLIS, included many challenges which began from the design and organization and reached into promotion and securing visitation at the exhibition.

For the execution of the exhibition, Bee Group Inc. took on the design of the content and structure of the exhibition, the research and discovery of exhibits, the development of audiovisual presentations for all historical time periods from ancient times to today, the development of interactive games for kids which visited the exhibition, as well as, the support of exhibit operations with specialized guides.

MYLOS Inc. hosted the exhibition at its facilities and took on in conjunction with Bee Group activities dealing with publicity and securing sponsors.

The exhibition occupied four floors of the Tower of Mylos in Thessaloniki, of which three presented three different historical periods in the development of telecommunications and the fourth included areas for sponsors and interactive games.

The presentation of the history of telecommunications was undertaken in periods (one period on each floor) starting from antiquity and ending with today’s contemporary period.  For each period a Multimedia audiovisual presentation was developed, which in combination with the exhibits of each period gave a complete picture of the development taking place during that period.

The Benefits

The exhibition was highly successful, lasting for 10 months and having over 20,000 visitors and many schools visiting.

The result of the exhibition and indicative of its success was the production of the DVD “Telepolis – The History of Telecommunications” which included the sum of the audiovisual presentations which were developed for the exhibition and which presented in a vivid fashion the development of telecommunications from antiquity until today.
