The need to promote interesting locations which are not well known, compared with other tourist areas in Greece, led to the selection of multimedia as the technology and the CD-ROM as the medium.  In this manner, they could present “live” historical information from the prefecture and mainly from areas which are attractive for tourists, as well as, other locations which have merit. 

After a competition was held, the promotion of tourist locations in the Prefecture of Larissa was undertaken by Bee Group.

For the execution of the project, Bee Group put together initially a scenario presentation of the content of the CD-ROM which included all the distinct sections, the type and length of the information which would be presented and the method of operation of the different sections.

After gaining approval of this scenario presentation the development of the content of the CD-ROM started, which included writing the sections, digitization of photographs and slides, digitization of Videos, the development of the corresponding animation and recording of the narrative.

The development of the CD-ROM was done through the method of prototyping and the gradual incorporation of digital materials which were developed in the process.

For the development of the CD-ROM Macromedia Director was used in combination with Macromedia Flash.

The CD-ROM supports two languages (Greek and English) and includes the following six sections:

• Mythology
• History
• Mountain
• Sea
• Activities
• Monuments
• Products
• Exhibitions
• The city of Larissa

In its entirety it included:

• 400 pictures
• 20 minutes of video
• Narration throughout the duration of the CD-ROM
• Maps of the prefecture
• Slide Show
• Musical base which could be either activated or deactivated
